GRIPPING BLACK

editsI wanted to find a creative way to title this page, but figured simplicity breeds content from time to time.

I am Gervanna “GRAVITY” Stephens.

A 20-something year old Jamaican, newly emerged Spoken Word Artist, budding motivator, writer, educator and overall ‘creativist’.

Creativity through language is my passion and as such springs forth
“Gripping Black.”

I want to proclaim that I know all of what this blog will entail and that my creative vision is on its way to the highest of heights, but what project really is at its inception?

I, like everyone else in this day and age would like to change the world, but I’ve resolved that if I can’t change it, the least I can do is improve upon it.

Watch me try…

  2. Hi Gravity, I found your blog through Opinionated Man and wanted to pop over to say hello and to check out your site. I don’t know if you’ve heard the story of the starfish but your philosophy reminds me of it. The short version is about a guy finding a gazillion starfish on the beach so he begins picking them up (one at a time) and tossing them back in the ocean. Someone comes along and asks him what he’s doing and says something to the effect that “you can’t save all of them” and the guy responds “maybe not but at least I can save this one.” I look forward to reading more from you. ~Steph

    1. Hi Stephanie. Thank you soooo much for checking out my blog , musings and writings and such. Opinionated Man is awesome! No, I’ve never heard that story before, but it’s touching and I do like it. Will have to look it up and maybe share it with my students one of these days. Thanks for your input and I love that you like what you see so far. Hope not to disappoint. Cheers!

      1. Hello again Gravity, Yes OM is wonderful sharing the love like he does and allowing people to connect. I hope you get a chance to look up the starfish story (there are several variations but the message is the same). Have a great day!! =D
